Executive Summary of Strategic Plan 2018-2021

The Strategic Plan contains Vision Statement, Mission, 8 Strategic Objectives, Focus areas for the next three years, and a description of the timeline for Strategic Plan evaluation.

The Vision, Mission, and Strategic Objectives focus on excellence in academic and clinical training and providing speech-language pathology diagnostic and therapeutic services to the North State.

There are 16 specific improvement items that were determined to be important to work on over the next three years. These 16 items fall under 6 larger categories that correlate with a total of 6 of the 8 Strategic Objectives:

  1. Sufficiency of Resources: Hiring TT PhD faculty and FT Master’s level faculty; support to students with on campus stipends and school district stipends; reworking clinical diagnostic practicum to be more cost-effective. Correlates with Strategic Objective 8.

  2. Academic Planning: SLPA offering; more undergrad courses satisfying GE areas; more IPE experiences. Correlates with Strategic Objectives 1 & 8.

  3. Data collection for program improvement: Purchase Calipso; Maintain schedule for data collection and evaluation. Correlates with Strategic Objective 6.

  4. Clinic Education and Clinic Support: Improve consistency of Clinical Instruction (CI) documentation procedures; improve effectiveness of evaluation of CI; Explore free clinic options. Correlates with Strategic Objectives 5, 6, 7.

  5. Facilities and Equipment: Consistent Level 1 cleaning of facilities. Correlates with Strategic Objectives 1, 2, 6, 7, 8.

  6. Program Autonomy and Leadership: Pursue independent department status; Better access to program data collected by institution. Correlates with Strategic Objective 8.
