K-12 Teacher Programs

The Center for Mathematics and Science Education (CMSE) is dedicated to the improvement of mathematics and science teaching at all levels. Recognizing that the K-12 community and the University can enhance each other’s knowledge in this domain, CMSE provides numerous opportunities for this collaboration to occur.

At the heart of programs for all teachers interested in science teaching is the Inland Northern Science Project (INSP)(opens in new window). Similarly, the Chico Mathematics Project (CMP) serves in that capacity for mathematics teachers. Both offer opportunities for teachers during the academic year as well as a variety of summer programs.

MSTI Teacher Support: Get added Math or Science credentials or authorizations

We currently have funds to assist current teachers to add math or science authorizations, and to add a Computer Science Authorization. We can reimburse for some necessary professional development, courses, CSET tests, and the CTC application fee. Contact us through the request form below to get more details. These services are primarily to support teachers in our service region of north-eastern California.

Prior to applying for this MSTI support, please ensure that you meet the following minimum requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution
  2. One of the following valid, unexpired, California teaching credentials:
  • Multiple Subject
  • Single Subject

Please note that this support requires you complete the tests or courses needed, and to complete the application for CTC authorization. This must be done through the CSU, Chico School of Education to be valid for our program funds. The specific details for completing the application and all reimbursements will be provided upon approval to the MSTI program. Get more information(opens in new window) and fill out the Request Form(opens in new window) and feel free to contact Brandi Aranguren via email baranguren@csuchico.edu if you have questions.
