Department of Management Internships

Want to earn course credit for your work experience? 

If you are building your resume by pursuing real work experience related to management while enrolled at CSU, Chico, you may be eligible for earning up to 3 course credits toward your degree in one of the following disciplines:

  • Human Resource Management (MGMT 389A)
  • Management (MGMT 389C)
  • Project Management (MGMT 389E)
  • Sustainability (MGMT 389D)
  • Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management (MGMT 389K)

What's involved?

Academic interns simply write a term paper and a brief reflection paper while completing their work duties to earn course credit. No lectures, no exams, no group projects! Plus, internships can be completed during the fall, spring, or summer terms, and can be done from anywhere across the globe.

Step 2: Apply for academic credit

Once you have your internship experience set up, apply for academic credit by emailing the Management Department at mgmt@csuchico.edu for the internship application, or go to the department office in Tehama 305. 

Your application will be reviewed for confirmation of your qualifications, which include:

  • Junior standing
  • A 2.75 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Completion of required prerequisites 

In addition to student requirements, the internship itself must include:

  • 135 hours of developmental work responsibilities 
  • A job description provided by the employer
  • Employer's approval
