Saturday, April 23, four College of Business student organizations will be gathering at the Yolo Fields for the first-ever student organization field day competition. Organizations attending include: American Marketing Association; Phi Chi Theta; Pi Sigma Epsilon-Eta Theta; and the Project Management Group. Each organization will act as a team to compete in challenges such as an egg toss, a relay race, dodgeball, and tug-of-war.

The competition also includes a fundraiser in honor of April being Autism Awareness Month. All proceeds from the fundraiser will go to Family First in Chico, a local non-profit to the North State that helps children with developmental disabilities. Read more about their story by clicking here.

The competition was created as a networking opportunity for students to get to know each other outside of their usual field.

“The competition is a way to bring awareness to different organizations available to business students, as well as strengthen the community within the College of Business,” said Morgan Iler, president of the Project Management Group. Iler will be graduating this spring.

Students that are not currently part of an organization but are interested are encouraged to join in the fun. While they will not be able to participate in the challenges, there will be food and student organization representatives at the event.

“Spirit will also factor into the winner of the competition,” said Iler. “We are looking for teams with high energy.”

The competition will be held on Saturday, April 23 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Yolo Fields, and the winning team with the most points will have their organization’s name engraved on a trophy that will be displayed in Glenn Hall.
