CSU, Chico's College of Business Bestowed with Money Magazine Honor
One of California State University, Chico’s most populous college has been recognized as one of America’s standout programs.
Last week, Money magazine ranked CSU, Chico at No. 45 on its list of “Best Colleges for Business Majors(opens in new window).” Using data gleaned by the U.S. Department of Education, Peterson’s, Payscale.com, and Money/College Measures calculations, the list reflects colleges that have large numbers of students majoring in business subjects, as well as top salaries for graduates who studied business.
Annually, approximately 2,700 students are enrolled in majors within the College of Business, and business administration continues to be the largest major across the University. Options within the major include accounting, entrepreneurship and small business management, human resource management, marketing, and project management. The college also offers a degree in business administration systems, 11 business-related minors, and four certificate programs.
Ken Chapman, interim dean of the University’s College of Business, said that the many successful programs within the college—like the Center for Entrepreneurship, the Center for Excellence in Finance, Seufferlein Sales Program, and Business Student Success Center—provide students with real-world experience and help to drive the college’s overall success.
“I seriously believe the value students get from our excellent faculty and staff, applied curriculum and phenomenal co-curriculum opportunities just can’t be beat,” Chapman said.
Of the colleges and universities that appeared on Money’s list, CSU, Chico emerged as the most affordable, with an estimated price tag for the 2018-19 academic year of $14,700 without aid. Additionally, the University ranked in the top 10 for the least amount of average student debt following graduation, at $17,000.
“We know that students and families bear the burden of any rising costs in higher education,” Chapman said. “By partnering with our donors, we are able to bring greater resources to our students while keeping our costs affordable.”
Other CSU campuses included in Money’s rankings are San Jose State (No. 8), Cal Poly Pomona (No. 35), Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (No. 43), CSU, East Bay (No. 44), and San Diego State (No. 49).
CSU, Chico’s College of Business is regularly recognized as one of the nation’s finest programs. It recently received a five-year accreditation and is one of just 15 percent of all business schools globally to meet the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International’s rigorous standards.
Money magazine also recognized CSU, Chico in August as one of the Nation’s 50 Best Public Colleges(opens in new window) and one of its “Best Colleges For Your Money,” at No. 62. And the college’s Center for Entrepreneurship was recently recognized(opens in new window) as one of the world’s top programs for interdisciplinary education and preparation of its students.
