New Dean Named for College of Business

Terence Lau has accepted the position of dean of the College of Business at Chico State. He will assume his new responsibilities on January 2, 2019, after finishing his current obligations to the University of Dayton.

“I was impressed with professor Lau’s depth of knowledge, his enthusiasm, and his vision for what the College of Business could achieve in the coming years,” said Dr. Michael Rehg, search committee chair. “He conveyed a knowledge of what it would take for us to achieve our goals in a way that was both realistic and inspiring. We are fortunate to be able to bring in someone of professor Lau’s caliber, and I think he will foster a positive mindset across the college and university.”

Lau’s combination of industry and higher education leadership provide him with the experience needed to lead the College of Business. He earned his juris doctorate at Syracuse University of College Law, Syracuse NY and his undergraduate degree at Wright State University, Dayton. He served as in-house counsel at Ford Motor Company before starting his academic career at the University of Dayton, where he served as program director, department chair, and associate dean in the School of Business Administration.

I look forward to working with them, as well as the thousands of Chico State business alumni and the Advisory Board, to build a next-generation College of Business that will make Chico State proud.”
