The Entrepreneurship Option at Chico State emphasizes an approach to entrepreneurship that acknowledges entrepreneurs’ responsibility to people and the environment, and the potential for entrepreneurship to contribute to a better world. Our students are challenged to understand their values, accept personal responsibility for their decisions and pursue a life of integrity.
Our program is designed to graduate students who not only know how to start and operate a business, but are ready to assume leadership roles in the business world.

The Entrepreneurship Option doesn’t just prepare students to start and manage their own business. The knowledge, skills, and creativity required to oversee a successful startup have broad applications and are valued by employers of all kinds.
Students in the entrepreneurship option program develop:

Is a Degree in Entrepreneurship Right for Me?
The Entrepreneurship Option is an excellent choice for students who have or would like to develop what is called an entrepreneurial mindset. People with an entrepreneurial mindset are:
- Critical thinkers who question the status quo
- Observers of their environment who look for opportunities for improvement
- Confident enough to take a risk or handle rejection yet flexible enough to admit a mistake

Students with specialized abilities in areas like music and fine art or with skills in social media or web development, also find the Entrepreneurship Option to be an excellent way to leverage their abilities into a successful career.
What Program Opportunities Can I Become Involved While Studying at Chico State?
Entrepreneurship students have the opportunity to participate in a wide-range of activities outside of the classroom. The Center for Entrepreneurship hosts new venture and business plan competitions between Chico State student teams and between Chico State and other universities. These popular and exciting events provide students a chance to compete for business startup funds and receive expert advice. We also encourage students to take advantage of the experiential opportunities available to students including company site visits and our internship program.
The Entrepreneurship Center, Entrepreneurship Club and partner organizations host events and programs that provide students with a chance to connect with mentors and successful alumni and hear from distinguished entrepreneurial leaders. Students can also receive targeted consulting, mentoring and training support for their startup ideas from our incubator program and make use of our Makerspace lab featuring 3D printers, a vinyl cutter, an industrial sewing machine, high-powered computers, and much more. Students can apply for a number of scholarships and grants available only to Entrepreneurship students
