Scholarships, Costs, and Grants*
For Campus-Based MBA Students
Want to get an MBA, but concerned about the expense of continuing your education? We might be able to help. The California State University, Chico campus MBA program is already a great value, but these scholarships and grants make it an extraordinary deal.
Please note that online MBA program students are not eligible for the scholarships and grants described below. Online MBA students are eligible for financial aid. MBA Scholarship Application Process
If you believe that you qualify for any of the three MBA Scholarships below, we encourage you to write a 1-2 page justification clearly describing why you make an outstanding candidate for one (or more) of the scholarship awards. Upload this justification statement in Cal State Apply as part of your application (section 4). For more information about the MBA Scholarship details, see our FAQ section.
MBA Academic Excellence Scholarships
We feel it is important to reward academic excellence and achievement. If you have a strong undergraduate GPA (e.g. 3.5 or higher) and have done well on the GMAT or GRE you may be eligible to receive one of the MBA Academic Excellence Scholarships. Evidence of a strong academic track record will be reviewed for consideration.
MBA North State Initiative Scholarship
The University places a high priority on servicing students in our Northern California service area, which includes Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Plumas, Shasta, Siskiyou, Sutter, Tehama, Trinity and Yuba counties. This scholarship is designed to reward and support outstanding students who can show that they are residents of one of these counties. Evidence of long-standing record or residence, employment, or community engagement in the service area counties will be reviewed. Particular emphasis is for applicants who went to high school in the service area. A strong academic record (GPA and GMAT or GRE scores) and leadership potential will also be an important characteristic. This scholarship requires a minimum 3.3 undergraduate GPA.
MBA Building Bridges Scholarship
We feel it is important to develop a broad and diverse student population in our MBA program. This scholarship is designed to financially support underrepresented groups and encourage underrepresented students to apply to our MBA program. A strong academic record (GPA and GMAT or GRE scores) will also be considered.
MBA Program Costs
The cost to complete the MBA Program depends on a variety of factors including unit load, if prerequisites needed, option in the program, residency status, and graduation timeframe impact the total cost for the program and term costs each semester. On average, the program is estimated to cost $24,000 for domestic and around $35,000 for international/non-resident students.
The spring 2020 tuition and registration fee schedule calculates typical part-time or full-time unit schedules to determine semester costs*.

Additional Grant and Scholarship Opportunities
Students are encouraged to review additional financial sources, but should exercise caution if applying to scholarships outside of CSU, Chico or the CSU system.
CSU, Chico Wildcat Scholarship
The CSU, Chico Wildcat scholarship application is available every year from January 2 - February 15 for the next academic school year which may include additional funding sources.
External Scholarships
There are also external scholarship resources recommended by the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office.
The Graduate Business Grant
The Graduate Business Grant(opens in new window) assist students with the costs of the MBA Professional Fee assessed by the California State University to all business graduate programs. This grant is not administered by the College of Business/MBA Program. Eligibility is determined by information the FAFSA, a student's expected family contribution (EFC), and financial need.
