Professional Sales Certificate

The 21-credit Professional Sales Certificate is a great way to differentiate yourself in today’s competitive job market. Though open to all students, the certificate is specifically designed for marketing majors and minors. The certificate is comprised of one foundation course, five required core courses, and one elective course. Earning your Professional Sales Certificate is easy! Just follow the steps below.

1.  Application Form

First, students must complete and submit an Application Form. (PDF) This should be done as soon as possible. Students can fill out the form online, and send to

2.  Plan Change Form

Next, students must fill out a Plan Change Form(opens in new window) to declare their intent to earn the certificate. This must be submitted PRIOR to filing for graduation. Just follow these simple steps:

  • Visit the Plan Change Form website.
  • Click on the Plan Change Form (Staff) link under the Staff/Faculty Advisors header.
  • Enter your portal username and password.
  • Click on the “Add (select to add an additional Major, Minor or Certificate)” button, enter your Chico State ID#, and click the “Look Up” button
  • Once your name appears, proceed to the drop down box and select “Professional Sales Certificate”
  • Click the “Save/Print” button and email the printed form to the Seufferlein Sales Program and Business Advising to be signed.
  • Stop by Glenn 321 this semester for advising support, or feel free to schedule appointments or go to drop in advising. Students can simply go to the College of Business home page (opens in new window) for Zoom links to drop in or to schedule an appointment. 3.  Certificate Coursework & GPA Requirements

Students must complete 21 units of required coursework (PDF). Be sure to meet with Business Advising to make sure you're on the right track! Students must also meet the SSP's GPA requirements:

  • Sales Certificate Classes:  minimum 2.5 GPA with no less than a "C" in any core sales course
  • Cumulative: minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 upon graduation

4.  Sales Competency Program Requirement

Students must fulfill the Sales Competency Requirement by attending three core, skill-building workshops prior to graduation, two networking events, and two development events.
