Professional Sales Certificate

The 21-credit Professional Sales Certificate is a great way to differentiate yourself in today’s competitive job market. Though open to all students, the certificate is specifically designed for marketing majors and minors. The certificate is comprised of one foundation course, five required core courses, and one elective course. Check out the complete course requirements (PDF) for the Certificate in Professional Sales, and be sure to meet with a business advisor in the virtual office hours.


Earning your Professional Sales Certificate is easy! Just follow the steps below.

1.  Application Form

First, students must complete and submit an Application Form. (opens in new window)

2.  Plan Change Form

Next, students must fill out a  Plan Change Form(opens in new window) to declare their intent to earn the certificate. This must be submitted PRIOR to filing for graduation. Just follow these steps:

  • Visit the Plan Change Form website.
  • Click on the Plan Change Form (Current Students) link under the  Current Students header.
  • Enter your portal username and password.
  • Click on the "Certificate" button.
  • Select "ADD (select to add an additional Major, Minor or Certificate)."
  • Proceed to the drop down box and select “Professional Sales Certificate.”
  • Click the “Save/Print” button on the bottom right.
  • Email the form to the Business Advising at or take a physical copy to Glenn 321.

3.  Certificate Coursework & GPA Requirements

Students must complete 21 units of required coursework (PDF). Be sure to meet with Business Advising to make sure you're on the right track! Students must also meet the SSP's GPA requirements:

  • Sales Certificate Classes:  minimum 2.5 GPA with no less than a "C" in any core sales course
  • Cumulative: minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 upon graduation

4.  Sales Program Core Requirements

Students must fulfill the Sales Competency Requirement by attending

1.Attend 3 core workshops

2. Attend 2 Networking events

3. Attend 2 Development events

4. Complete an exit survey
