We highly recommend that you read our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page for further information about our program and the application process. You should also review our printable PDF for the basic steps to complete your application.

Step 1: Prepare

  • The GRE or GMAT exam is required for admission regardless of GPA. Give yourself time to study and prepare for the test.
  • We do not prefer one test over the other. We will always use the highest test score if you attempt the test more than once or take both tests.

Step 2: Research

  • Consider which option you would like to pursue: General MBA, MBA option in Project Management (PRMG), or MBA option in Enterprise Information Systems (EIS). The EIS MBA is a STEM designated degree, which allows international students to stay in the US for a three year OPT after graduation.
  • Determine your eligibility for MBA scholarships and grants.
  • An undergraduate degree in business is not required. However, there are six course areas that students may need to take prerequisite courses or online modules to prepare for MBA courses.
  • Review our FAQ page for common application questions and answers.

Step 3: Apply Online

Our program, like all California State University campuses, uses the online application for international students called Cal State Apply: www.calstate.edu/apply.

We created a walk-thru guide of the online application for students applying to the MBA Program. This will help identify what needs to be included in the online application and what can be sent directly to the MBA Program and/or the Office of Graduate Studies at CSU, Chico.

  • To start our program in the fall, submit your application October 1 - March 1
  • To start our program in the spring, submit your application August 1 - September 15

When you choose your program on the application, this will declare your option in the MBA program.

Step 4: Send Supplemental Materials

  1. Mail two sets of official transcripts and degree certificates for each college/university that you attended since high school.
  • International Graduate Admission 400 W. First St. Chico, CA 95929-0680, USA
  1. Mail to the address above or email (iss@csuchico.edu) your financial support documents and copy of your passport biographic data page.
  2. Submit official GRE or GMAT test scores and language proficiency (if required) electronically. Our test code is 4048.
  3. Email to the MBA program (mba@csuchico.edu):
  • Current resume
  • Statement of purpose
  • Two letters of recommendation and waiver forms
  • If applying for MBA Scholarships, send your scholarship essay with your application materials

Step 5: Decisions

Once your online application and all supplemental materials have been received, your application is considered complete. Complete applications will be reviewed starting on March 1 for fall and September 15 for spring admission. Decisions will be made on a rolling basis until space fills. Applicants will be notified of the decision via an email from the MBA Director. Please be patient as your application is reviewed.
