The CDC continues to place Butte County's COVID-19 community level in the "high" category. As such, in accordance with CDC recommendations, Chico State is strongly recommending that masks be worn indoors.

We are fortunate the current rise in COVID-19 cases across the state and in the county, caused by the newest omicron variants, is occurring during the summer when classes are not in session and our campus is less populated than during the academic year. This has allowed us to stop short of requiring masks at the moment. However, we will continue to evaluate the conditions and data as we approach the fall semester.

The current surge also reminds us that we are still in the pandemic and we must remain vigilant. Remember, if you start to feel symptoms (even mild symptoms) or are exposed to someone who tests positive, get tested right away. You should also call the COVID Hotline (530-898-2222) for guidance.

For anyone who recently tested positive, our thoughts are with you and we wish you are a speedy recovery. Thank you for continuing to do your part to help the University manage COVID-19, and we hope you have a healthy and productive remainder of the summer.
