Chancellor White announced that all CSU campuses will deliver the vast majority of instruction virtually for the fall 2020 semester. Following the Chancellor’s directive, Chico State is planning for the majority of its fall course offerings and most student support services to be online or offered through alternative modalities in order to maintain low population density on campus. In order to accommodate Chancellor White's directive, Meriam Library will be modifying how it circulates materials from the library collections (and materials from other libraries) to allow patrons to pick up requested materials from the breezeway doors of Meriam Library.

Patrons with a Wildcat ID card will be able to request materials through OneSearch (users must log in to OneSearch in order to be able to request items) and will receive an email notification when their items are available to be picked up. Items will be checked out to patrons prior to arrival; an email will be sent to patrons indicating the items have been checked out to them, the due date of the materials, and the times and location where they can pick up the materials. Patrons will need to show their Wildcat ID card in order to pick up items. Patrons will be able to retrieve their requested materials at the exit doors in the Meriam Library breezeway on Mondays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. during summer, beginning July 9, 2020. New service hours will be announced at the beginning of the fall semester.

Along with the CSU Libraries and most library systems, Meriam Library is implementing the recommendations on the handling of library materials from the Reopening Archives, Libraries, and Museums project, including a 72-hour quarantine period for returned books (including books received through CSU+ or interlibrary borrowing). Please note that quarantine periods may increase the time for the delivery of materials.

Thank you for working with us in order to protect the safety of our students, staff, and faculty and for your patience as we work towards refining this new system for delivering library materials. We hope that it will be a smooth transition to this new method of delivering materials and ask that you share any comments, questions, or concerns with Meriam Library Dean Patrick Newell.
