Vaccine Self-Certification/Updated Mask Guidelines for Employees

---
Announced: July 19, 2021, 10 a.m.

To: Campus Community
From: CSU, Chico Emergency Operations Center

Cal/OSHA’s updated COVID-19 guidelines permit fully vaccinated employees to remove face coverings while working indoors. Beginning on July 26, employees who indicate they have been vaccinated have the option of removing their masks indoors in accordance with Cal/OSHA guidelines. Employees who are not vaccinated or who choose not to share their vaccination status are required to continue wearing masks indoors.

Starting today, fully vaccinated employees can voluntarily indicate their vaccine status by using this secure form: [link in employee email]This step is required before you can remove your mask on July 26.

This includes stateside MPPs, confidential employees, and employees represented by CSUEU, Teamsters, and CFA bargaining units. Those who have multiple employers on campus (e.g. state, Chico State Enterprises, and Associated Students) will have to complete this process for each entity. Student employees will need to fill this out in addition to the Student Vaccination Self-Certification form in the Student Center.

We know many have been eagerly awaiting permission to remove your masks, but please note that face coverings are always welcome. Employees should not make assumptions about another’s vaccination status if they are wearing a mask. Fully vaccinated employees are explicitly allowed to wear a face covering without fear of discrimination, harassment, or retaliation.

Face coverings or N-95 masks will be available (and guidance provided for use) for employees who have not indicated they have been vaccinated. Please note that all employees must wear face coverings in certain settings such as health care facilities or when performing some tasks.

The CSU’s vaccination requirement is pending, but this is an important intermediate step in our safe return to work. Thank you for your continued patience and flexibility. We anticipate additional guidance and updates soon and we appreciate your partnership as we prepare for a much busier campus in a few weeks. If you have questions, please contact: eoc@csuchico.edu

We will continue to monitor conditions and make safety adjustments as necessary.
