Coronavirus/COVID-19 Information

COVID-19 Update for March 24

March 24 updates include information on student support resources, travel suspensions, and personal protective equipment inventory needs.

Reminder—Student Resources for Online Instruction, Support

IT Support Services still has a limited number of loaner laptops available to students for pick-up until Friday, March 27 and will be providing virtual technology assistance for the remainder of the semester. Students must submit a laptop request prior to pick-up, and all requests must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 26. Laptops will be prepared the morning after the request is submitted and can be picked up between 1–4 p.m. at IT Support Services in Meriam Library, Room 142. Students needing Internet access from home should check out these available resources. Visit the Student Resources page for a list of additional student-support services.

Domestic Travel Suspended

All University-related domestic travel has been suspended for faculty, staff, and students until further notice. This follows the March 11 suspension of University-related travel to international destinations. All previously authorized exceptions for “essential” domestic travel are rescinded. At this time, only President Gayle Hutchinson has the authority to approve exceptions, and circumstances will be weighed carefully when considering exception requests.

Personal Protective Equipment Needed—Staff/Faculty

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is now widely unavailable for purchase, and we are asking departments to assist in our ongoing efforts to respond and adapt to the pandemic. Departments that have any of the PPE listed below are asked to notify the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) via email at with the following information.

  • A detailed inventory of PPE your department is maintaining for ongoing use during our COVID-19 response. Include the location of the materials and the department's point of contact responsible for managing distribution. Items include:
    • Masks, surgical
    • Masks, N95
    • Nitrile gloves
    • Latex gloves
    • Safety glasses
    • Face shields
    • Aprons/gowns
  • Confirmation of any remaining PPE in your department. Consolidate the equipment into one location, and EOC staff will perform an inventory and relocate it to a centralized location for on-campus and potential external distribution.

If you receive inquiries about PPE supplies or have a need for additional PPE, please direct them to
