Counseling & Wellness Center

Chris Sims

What motivated you to become a counselor?

– A counselor really helped me and my family when we were going through rough stuff. I appreciated and admired how much she was able to help my family and me.

In your opinion, what’s so great about therapy?

– We get so used to our own interpretation of ourselves, our behaviors, and our perceptions, it is good to meet with someone who can offer something different

What’s the most important thing YOU learned in college (it doesn’t have to be academic!)?

– I learned to meditate on a regular basis.

What are some of your reasons for living (a.k.a., hobbies, favorite things, turn-ons)?

– I like playing with my kids and watching them play basketball, hanging out with my wife, and the Oakland Raiders.

What is your hope for me as your client?

– I hope that you can see yourself in a compassionate way.

I really liked working with you. How can I find a therapist who’s just like you (in other words, what’s your theoretical orientation?)?

– Someone who values the relationship between a client and a therapist is a pretty good place to start.
