Camp Fire Anniversary Self-Care and Support

Camp Fire Anniversary Self-Care and Support

All events will take place Friday, November 8

Pop Up Counseling: A centralized place for students to access supportive listening, debriefing, processing, and resources. This pop up center will be staffed by graduate students from the psychology department.  Come by to talk, visit, or just pick up your “stress preparedness kit.” (while supplies last)

Time: 10am-2pm

Location: BMU 008

Supportive Listener Crew: Around campus there will be a team of supportive listeners made up of volunteers from our campus community. These volunteers will offer on-campus support to help debrief/process with members of the community. You can identify these volunteers by their rainbow lanyard and badges asking if you “Need2talk?” Don’t need to talk? No problem! You can always ask them about other resources available or how you can get your very own “stress preparedness kit.”

Time: 11am-1pm

Sound Bath Therapy: Immerse yourself in healing vibrations. These one hour sessions blend crystal singing bowls, gongs, Didgeridoo, Native American flute, and chimes into an experience like none other. Not only will you hear this event, you will feel it as the vibrations pass through your body effecting you on a cellular level. Participants of sound bath therapy have reported a reduction in stress, pain, and anxiety, as well as feeling more centered, grounded, and relaxed. Open to students, staff, and faculty.

Time: 10:00-10:50 (first session) & 1:00-1:50 (second session offered)

Location:  BMU 301

Facilitator(s): Jesse Spallina and Justin Smith of 432 Chico at the Lotus Center or https://432chico.love/

Yoga with Rachel:  This one hour yoga class will include deep breathing, meditation, and simple yoga postures to help calm the nervous system. Rachel teaches with a grounded, heartfelt, down-to-earth style that is welcoming and inviting. She specializes in working with beginners, those who are intimidated by yoga, and those who are looking to relieve stress, anxiety and depression. For this class, you won't need a mat or workout clothes. Feel free to come late or leave early as needed. Carve out an hour of your day to care of yourself! Open to students, staff, and faculty.

Time: 1:30-2:30

Location: Selvester's Cafe

Facilitator:  Rachel Koontz
