To streamline our Return to Campus process, CSE will align with CSU, Chico’s expectations and procedures for Phase 3(opens in new window). Content listed below is specific to CSE and may differ from campus guidelines. If not outlined below, we are in alignment with campus.

This content is current as of May 6, 2021 and will be updated as guidance evolves.

Return to Campus Expectations

1.  Will the 25 and 35 Main Street buildings be open for business and unlocked beginning June 7, 2021?

Although CSU Chico and CSE are moving to expand on-campus/in-person staffing beginning June 7th, the 25/35 MST buildings will not reopen due to planned building improvements. Additionally, several of the 25/35 MST occupants provide in-person services to the general public and based on the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) guidance for Institutions of Higher Education (PDF), non-essential visitors, in-person activities or meetings, are not permitted at this time. More information regarding the timeline for building improvements and updated Higher Education guidance will be shared as available.

At this time, the 25/35 MST doors will continue to be locked. Employees approved to work on-site will require keycard access to enter the building during normal business hours and after hours if applicable.

2.  Are managers required to provide an employee with notice before asking them to return to work on-campus/in-office/fieldwork?

Managers should provide at least 14 days’ notice before transitioning an employee back to campus/in-office/fieldwork. Employees who have medical concerns regarding their ability to return should contact CSE Human Resources to explore available options. CSE HR can be reached at

Please provide your employee with a written notice of return. An email is sufficient. An example of an email is:
