Guidelines for Adding or Removing a Course from GE

Note: Please see General Education and Diversity Deadlines for important dates.

A New Course Requesting Inclusion into GE 

  1. Propose a new course in the curriculum management system.
  2. Select "yes" to GE and "are you applying for GE?"
  3. Include a syllabus and rationale for addition to the desired GE Area.
  4. Submit the proposal to the workflow where it will be routed for approval by department, college, and then CAB.
  5. Once approved, the course will be sent to the intent distribution list by Curriculum Services.

An Existing Course Requesting Inclusion into GE 

  1. Edit the course in the curriculum management system.
  2. Select "yes" to GE and "are you applying for GE?"
  3. Include a syllabus and rationale for addition to the desired GE Area. 
  4. Submit the proposal to the workflow where it will be routed for approval by department, college, and then CAB.
  5. Once approved, the course will be sent to the intent distribution list by Curriculum Services.

An Existing GE Course Requesting Removal from the GE program

  1. Edit the course in the curriculum management system.
  2. Select "no" to GE.
  3. Submit the proposal to the workflow.
  4. Once approved, the course will be sent to the intent distribution list by Curriculum Services.

In the event an application is rejected during some stage of the approval process, written notice of the reason of rejection should be provided to the initiator(s) by CAB.
