The 1st Generation Faculty and Staff Association is a diverse and interdisciplinary community united to establish best practices for supporting the first generation community at CSU, Chico and beyond. Our efforts will be comprised of three pillars, which are advocacy, capacity building, and knowledge.
The advocacy pillar provides information and resources to the Chico State campus, the North State service area, and the larger California State University system through scholarships, data-driven practices, networking, and initiatives that directly serve the first generation community.

The capacity-building pillar provides evidence-based programming, resources, and mentorship to CSU, Chico affiliates in order to promote academic, professional, and personal success across the first generation community.

The knowledge pillar explores best practices for first generation college faculty, staff, and student success and communicates findings to stakeholders at the university, state, and national levels using a variety of mechanisms including publications, presentations, and digital media.
