Training: Safe Zone 2 Ally Training

Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017, through Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017, noon–2 p.m.
Meriam Library, Room 043

The mission of the Chico State Safe Zone program is to challenge homophobia, transmisogyny, cis- and heterosexism on the university campus and community by encouraging welcoming and inclusive environments for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer or Questioning, and Asexual (LGBTQ+) students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Safe Zone 2: Extending your Allyship

This workshop builds upon Safe Zone 1. We suggest starting with Safe Zone 1 first as it will give you the foundational knowledge to make this session more useful. In this workshop we will discuss additional concerns and issues for the LGBTQ+ community, struggles, biases & prejudices faced, allyship and how to be an effective ally in diverse situations and scenarios, and time for "hands on" practice about being an ally to the LGBTQ+ community.
