Kaltura reported an issue with Kaltura MediaSpace. Users may have experienced sporadic error/latency when loading the KMS page, however, after the page refresh, it will load as expected.

November 10, 2020: Clipping of Entries

Kaltura reported an issue that Clipping of some entries within Editor was unavailable. Users may have experience an error when attempting to clip specific entries.

November 10, 2020: Captions

Kaltura reported that caption requests with a specific vendor were delayed. Users were experiencing longer than normal processing time to receive captions. Other REACH services and caption requests with other vendors were processing normally. They were able to mitigate the issue and the queue for captions and the queue size was returned back to normal.

November 1, 2020: Playback Issues

Kaltura reported that they detected Playback failures, that interrupted Playback service functionality. The Engineering team mitigated the issue and the service got back to normal.

October 26, 2020: Mediaspace

Kaltura reported that there was an issue with Kaltura MediaSpace and that users might see API Errors when accessing the environment.

October 21, 2020: Caption Delays

Kaltura reported that there were delays completing machine caption requests to a specific vendor.
Users might have seen some caption requests remaining in "Pending" or "Processing" status for a longer time than normal. Other REACH services and caption requests were processing normally at all times.

October 15, 2020: Playback Issues

Kaltura reported they had a service outage that was caused by a connection interruption between the database to some of the servers. This outage affected access to all Kaltura components. 

September 14, 2020: Playback

Kaltura reported there was an issue with playback of entries that were recently uploaded. Some users may have experienced buffering or slow playback on some entries, most notably on entries were uploaded close to the time of the attempted playback.

Kaltura reported an issue that intermittently users received an error message when attempting to upload a file to MediaSpace or via API. Users might receive an error message when attempting to upload a file to MediaSpace or via API e.g. "Oops! Upload failed" or "Exceeded file size".

August 26-30, 2020: Kaltura Reach Captions

Kaltura reported delays with machine captions requests with Kaltura Reach. Users may have seen captions in processing status for a longer time than normal. Other REACH services and caption requests with other vendors are processing normally.

June 28, 2020: Kaltura Upload Issue

Kaltura reported an issue that affected Personal Capture uploads. Other components appeared to continue normal operation during this time.

June 14, 2020: Kaltura Performance Issue

Kaltura was experiencing major slowdowns and timeout errors for approximately 1.5 hours. This included MediaSpace and "My Media" features within Blackboard.

June 10, 2020: Kaltura networking outage

Kaltura was offline for approximately one hour. This included MediaSpace and "My Media" features within Blackboard.

Vendor reported a networking/routing issue with their ISP, which they were able to resolve by rerouting network traffic.

October 7, 2019: Kaltura outage

During this window, Kaltura was offline. Kaltura Video experienced issues in their data center. This caused issue with video playback and access to Kaltura features.

September 18-23, 2019: Kaltura six-day outage

  • Start: Friday, September 18, 2019 at 9:00 AM
  • End: Wednesday, September 23, 2019 at 2:00 PM
  • Duration: 6 days

On Friday, we received multiple reports that Kaltura in-video quizzes had issues with missing questions. Over the weekend, the issue became worse; Kaltura would not play videos, and instead showed only a black box.

Vendor support was able to resolve the issue after six days.

August 16, 2018: Kaltura maintenance

  • Update Kaltura Player to version 2.70.1

  • Change Kaltura MediaSpace to allow Non-Member Auxiliary as urn:oid:1.3.6.1.4.1.10396.2.1.1.7 attribute for SAML with the PrivateOnlyRole.

March 9, 2017: Kaltura version 2.53.2

During this maintenance window, Kaltura and Blackbard may have been temporarily unavailable.

Issues resolved in this version:

  • First finger touch doesn't work when controlBarContainer is hover
  • If playing more than one entry, the entry's thumbnail appears over DFP pre-roll
  • BE tagging support
  • Seek works only one time after changing media from 360 video to 360/simple video

In addition, this maintenance window included several Kaltura MediaSpace updates:

  • Kaltura Mediaspace categories update 
  • Kaltura Mediaspace help link change
  • Kaltura Mediaspace channels link in navigation menu
  • MediaSpace media collections can be accessed through categories and channels.

Categories can be accessed through the Navigation icon and browse your content according to the categories they are contained in. Each category opens up the list of sub-categories that are pre-configured by your administrator.

Channel managers and site administrators may give users permission to perform specific actions in a channel. Channels can be accessed from the My Channels selection in the User menu. The My Channels page has a clear indication of all the information related to the channel including, the name, a thumbnail display of the last video added to the channel, total number of views, statistics, who is managing the channel, links to send email to and which categories the channel is associated with.

February 23, 2017: Kaltura Live Stream

In addition, a change to Kaltura MediaSpace will allow the creation of Restricted channels for faculty and staff.

February 9, 2017: Kaltura version 2.52

DLT Staff will be making some changes in Kaltura configuration which will fix the following issues:

  • Change in the default behavior of Kaltura's Closed Captions - Turn off playing of captions automatically. Now, users will have to turn on Closed Captions in the media player.
  • Configuration change will fix the issue with broken links in CaptureSpace after uploading video to MyMedia.

January 14, 2016: Kaltura scrolling fix

Multiple users have reported that Kaltura media galleries are failing to display some videos, due to a bug in Kaltura’s “endless scrolling” feature. Admins have reconfigured Kaltura to replace endless scrolling with a button to load additional videos.
