Order of the Engineer Ceremony

Congratulations to our Engineering Graduates!

If you are a graduating Engineering student registered to walk in the Spring 2022 University Commencement, please save the date for the Order of the Engineer Ceremony:

When: Friday, May 20th, 2022 from 2:15-3:15pm - Please arrive 15 min. early to check-in
Where: Trinity Commons Lawn (lawn between the BMU and Trinity Hall)
Who: Graduating Engineering seniors and their family/friends attending Commencement
What: To commemorate this significant milestone and welcome you into the engineering profession, the College of ECC invites graduating Engineering seniors to join the Order of the Engineer. The Order of the Engineer is an independent organization that is dedicated to the engineering profession. Inductees are asked to accept with pride the “obligation” of an engineer. The “obligation” is the formal statement of an engineer’s responsibilities to the public and to the profession. It is a creed similar to the oath attributed to Hippocrates that is commonly taken by medical graduates and which sets forth an ethical code. The Order is symbolized by the acceptance of the “obligation” and the wearing of a stainless steel ring on the little finger of the working hand. Why: To properly induct our Engineering graduates into the Order of the Engineer

While it is not required, feel free to come to the Order of the Engineer ceremony dressed in your regalia. After the reception, you will then need to walk over to University Stadium for the official University Commencement check-in at 6pm. The Commencement ceremony will begin at 7pm.
