Seema Sehrawat, Ph.D

Interim Associate Dean

Seema Sehrawat, PhD has been an educator for more than eleven years and believes in building and nurturing collaborations. Her background in Information Technology, Accounting and Construction Management are strong assets she brings her new leadership role as the Interim Associate Dean of the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Construction Management.  Seema is passionate about data science and listening to all perspectives while conducting program evaluations. She received her PhD in Social Work from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2009. Before that, she worked with various community-based and social service agencies as a program manager, where she started several employee wellness initiatives. 

In her role as the Director of the Distributed Learning (DL) Program in the School of Social Work, Sehrawat focused on building partnerships with social service agencies and community colleges in our region to provide access to social work education in the north state. Under her leadership, enrollment in the Bachelor’s in Social Work DL program doubled. Sehrawat brings a great deal of enthusiasm and experience of working with a diverse student body and enhancing interdisciplinary collaboration on the Chico State campus.

Sehrawat has a strong record of research, publications, presentations and grant proposals.  She has secured over 2 million dollars in grants and in the final steps of securing a large endowment for the School of Social Work’s DL Program. Her experience and expertise in conducting interdisciplinary research in collaboration with community agencies allowed her to lead the CSU, Chico Interdisciplinary Center on Aging for five years. She conducts several staff trainings for eldercare workforce in our region and is often invited as a guest speaker in the community to address the growing needs of the aging population. Recently, she became a Certified Aging in Place Professional through the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).
