Transferring to Chico

  • California Community College (CCC) Transfer

    Use assist.org to determine equivalent courses for your major, general education (GE) and transferable units. Coursework from a CCC will transfer to meet lower division coursework (100 & 200 level).

    A maximum of 70 transferable units from a CCC can be applied towards your ECC Bachelors Degree. However, units above that do still earn/complete requirements. Additionally, your transfer GPA is calculated from all attempted transferable units.

  • California State University (CSU) transfer

    Use assist.org to determine equivalent courses for your major, general education (GE), and transferable units. Some CSU's have agreements between major programs to determine what is transferable.

    If a course(s) is not listed on ASSIST and it appears similar to coursework you have completed, contact the ECC Student Success Center (ESSC) for help contacting the appropriate departments/advisors.

    Admissions Transfer Advisors & Graduation Advising can help with advising for GE courses at Chico between CSU campuses.

    There is no limitation to the amount of units that can be transferred from a four-year university to your ECC Bachelors Degree. However, there are residency requirements needed to earn the degree from California State University, Chico.

  • University of California (UC) transfer

    Use assist.org to determine equivalent courses for your major, general education (GE), and transferable units. There are a few UC that have agreements between major programs to determine what is transferable.

    If a course(s) is not listed on ASSIST and it appears similar to coursework you have completed, contact the ECC Student Success Center (ESSC) for help contacting the appropriate departments/advisors.

    You may need enrollment assistance for courses at Chico based on prerequisite and programming limitations.

  • Out-of-State, Private, & Technical College/University Transfer

    Coursework will need to be reviewed by your major department. Please reach out to us in the transfer process to determine what transfers to meet major requirements. Review degree requirements for your major program and identify courses that appears similar to coursework you have completed. Contact the ECC Student Success Center (ESSC) for help contacting the appropriate departments/advisors.

    Out-of-state transfer students may need CSU specific requirements to graduate.

  • International Colleges & Universities

    The advisors in International Admissions will assist with reviewing your coursework and determining transferable coursework. International Admissions will reach out to campus departments and assist with course enrollment for your first semester.

    There is no limitation to the amount of units that can be transferred from a four-year university to your ECC Bachelors Degree. However, there are residency requirements needed to earn the degree from California State University, Chico.

  • Current Student Resources

    To take a course at a California Community College: Use assist.org to determine equivalent courses for your major, general education (GE) and transferable units. Coursework from a CCC will transfer to meet lower division coursework (100 & 200 level).

    Be sure to speak with your major advisor/ESSC if you will be repeating a course first attempted at Chico to know how repeat and repeat with forgiveness policies work. Also speak with your advisor to plan summer coursework at a CCC.

    Also, make sure to update your Smart Planner with your plans. Contact the ESSC for assistance.

    To take a course at another university (CSU, UC, out-of-state, private, international): prior approval from the appropriate department/advisor should be obtained prior to enrolling in a course. Please notify your major advisor/ESSC if you are taking a course for your major that is outside of your department curriculum.
