Chico State Secures Awards at 2017 ASC Student Competition

Earlier this month, more than 1,000 students from 45 universities competed in several categories including heavy civil, commercial, mechanical, electrical and more.

Earlier this month, Chico State College of ECC students and faculty participated in the 30th Annual Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) Region 6 & 7 Student Competition in Sparks, Nevada. More than 1,000 students from 45 universities competed in several categories including heavy civil, commercial, mechanical, electrical and more. Eight Chico State teams competed and placed in three categories.

Congratulations to Alan Bond and his Commercial Construction team for placing 2nd in the most competitive category (16 teams competing for three places) and to Chis Souder and his Mechanical Team placed third, and two students earned 3rd place in an Alternates Competition.

Lori Brown served as competition manager and successfully raised more than $500,000 from industry to support the teams. These companies gave their time and expertise to the student teams, as well as financial support. More than 80 companies participated in a job fair and 130 companies were represented throughout the competition.
