Andy completed his graduate degree at the University of San Francisco and his B.S. from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. He served as a practicing economist for eight years, earning promotions to head divisions and departments of community development in both California and Massachusetts.  As the Assistant Director of Community and Economic Development, Andy was responsible for preparing redevelopment plans, grant writing, development deals, and coordination with state and federal agencies. Andy has earned competitive academic fellowships to Germany and Japan, including a Japanese Fulbright Memorial award. He also completed a fellowship at Amherst College, which was awarded by the National Endowment for the Humanities as well as a post-graduate program at Harvard University on innovations in economic development.
