Ali Shahnawaz works on stochastic processes and analysis, and develops tools and models to study the structure of international institutions and agreements. Representative research has used switching diffusions to examine sovereign debt agreements, and stochastic evolution equations to assess the stability of foreign investment contracts. His teaching includes courses on microeconomic theory and international economics.
