Professor Tsournos joined the Economics department faculty at CSU, Chico in fall 2001. Dr. Tsournos' fields of concentration include: environment and resource economics, regional economics, and industrial organization and regulatory economics. Since his arrival to Chico, Dr. Tsournos’ research has focused on water and renewable energy related work including the following studies: Valuation of the Sacramento Wildlife Refuge, The Benefits and Costs of Supplemental Water Releases on the Feather River, An Analysis of the Bujagali Reservoir - An Economic and Financial Study, The Economic Impact on Plumas County of Alternative Northern Pike Eradication and Management Scenarios for Lake Davis, and Energy Options for the City of Dorris and Butte Valley. Prior to coming to Chico, Dr. Tsournos was a Research Economist for the USDA-Forest Service, Pacific Northwest Research Station in Sitka, Alaska. His primary area of research focused on applied microeconomic environmental and resource issues and policy in the State of Alaska, including forest product industry assessment, affects of environmental regulation on resource utilization, and sustainable growth and development paths of resource abundant and dependent communities.
