Jacob Brimlow

Jacob N. Brimlow(opens in new window), who graduated with a BA in Economics from CSU, Chico in 1998, and is an associate professor of Agricultural Business at Chico State. After graduation from Chico State he worked in the hospitality industry at Sunriver Resort(opens in new window) in Oregon.  IN 1999 Jacob left Sunriver for Eureka, California, to work in acquisitions for Northwest Capital, a small company purchasing pools of delinquent real estate loans.

In 2003 Jacob entered graduate school at North Carolina State University where he worked as a USDA National Needs Fellow until 2006 when he began working as a graduate fellow in the Property and Environment Research Center (PERC) at NCSU.  Jacob earned his PhD in Agricultural and Natural Resource Economics(opens in new window) in 2009.

Jacob teaches courses in Agricultural Economics, International Development in Agriculture, Agricultural Finance, and Price Analysis at Chico State. His research focuses on improving the profitability and economic resiliency of agricultural producers in the CSU, Chico service area by identifying and developing market opportunities, particularly for small- and medium-sized producers. Jacob has worked on several projects aimed at assessing and removing barriers to intermediated market local food sales, such as those between growers and restaurants, school districts, and hospitals.  

“Earning a BA in economics at CSU, Chico, gave me freedom to choose from many possible careers,” Jacob stated in a recent email.
