Nicholas Sutton

Nicholas Sutton(opens in new window), who graduated with a BA in Economics in 2002, is an enrolled agent at Sutton Financial(opens in new window) and a financial adviser at Cetera Financial Specialists LLC(opens in new window) in Daily City, California.  After graduation in 2003 he began working for Sutton Financial assisting clients with financial and tax planning.  In 2006 Nicholas began selling financial securities through Cetera Financial group.

“We use economics daily in our business, having to quickly and simply explain tax laws, tax policy and the government’s purpose of the law,” Nicholas said in a recent email.  “For example, we explain the impact of a reduction in mortgage interest deductions on the incentive for taxpayer to purchase homes and the resulting reduction in tax revenue.  We are in constant economic discussions to help explain to clients our long-term investment allocations. For example, with an aging population and the government’s increasing involvement in health care, we will allocate more to the health sector stocks to increase returns.  To help lower the risk and volatility we are reviewing interest rates and how we hold various types of bonds such as US vs Global, government vs corporate, and short-term vs long term.  (Last Updated 10/11/17)
