Research:
Research Interests
Dr. Salehi’s research work focuses on development of novel biomedical imaging and sensing systems, bioinstrumentation, signal and image processing, machine learning and pattern recognition for healthcare and medical applications. He also conducts research on Internet of Things (IoT) devices and sensors with a focus on health monitoring and analytics.
In his research activities, he develops novel optical imaging and sensing systems specifically photoacoustic imaging and optical coherence tomography with classification algorithms using deep learning techniques for early stage cancers and disease detection. In his research projects, he is closely working with his collaborators at Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine and University of Connecticut Health Center. He has also developed outstanding relationships with members of industry including United Technologies Corporation (UTC) and iDevices. He has published over 20 peer-reviewed journal and conference articles in the field, and has given talks at several international conferences. One of his research papers was featured on the cover of the Journal of Oral Radiology.
