CSU Chico is a vibrant university with a strong commitment to education.  In 2018 it ranked ninth among public universities in the western region by U.S. News & World Report.

The city of Chico offers an outstanding quality of life, and is often rated one of the best small U. S. cities ( rated Chico among the top eight college towns in the U.S.).  With fewer than 90,000 people, it has the feel of a friendly small town but it is also a cultural, entertainment, dining, and shopping hub of north central California. Chico has a great four season climate, with mild winters and 250 days of sunshine. Housing prices are reasonable. Chico has an innovative public school system that offers everyone a choice of schools, and has several special programs (e.g., Spanish immersion, and academic plus) along with a vibrant charter school community.  Its location at the base of the Sierra Nevada foothills offers excellent access for hiking, camping, skiing, boating, rock climbing, and fishing.

CSU Chico is committed to recruiting, developing and retaining the most talented people from a diverse candidate pool. The university enrolls over 17,000 students annually; 43% are White, 33% are Latinx, 5% are Asian, 3% are African American, 0.5% are Native American and 5% are multi-racial/ethnic. We proudly hold Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) designation, and over half of students will be the first in their family to earn a bachelor’s degree.

The ideal candidate will share Chico State’s demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, have prior experience working in culturally and socio-economically diverse learning environments, and will contribute to student success through inclusive pedagogy, as well as research and service to the university and surrounding North State communities. We acknowledge and are mindful that CSU, Chico stands on lands that were originally occupied by the first people of this area, the Mechoopda.
