The following resources can help you prepare for emergencies, be informed, and receive local alerts:

City of Chico CodeRED mass notification system is used to alert Chico residents in the event of an emergency or by texting " Buttealerts" to  99411 

Butte County Office of Emergency Management(opens in new window) this site offers community evacuation information, considerations for your home, ADA, and animals.

The  Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) mobile app(opens in new window) provides severe weather alerts, information related to 20 types of hazards, tools to create and save a custom list of items in your family's emergency kit, and receive directions to open shelters and disaster recovery centers.

The American Red Cross mobile app(opens in new window)  combines more than 35 different types of severe weather and emergency alerts.  You can choose the alerts that are important to your location.  There is also the "Family Safe" feature that allow you to notify loved ones that an alert has been issued in their area and check to see if they are safe. 

The Weather Channel(opens in new window) tracks and provides local forecasts and push alerts of severe weather to your mobile device.

The Integrated Public Alert and Warning System(opens in new window) (IPAWS)  is the Nation's alert and warning infrastructure.  It provides an effective way to alert and warn the public about emergencies using the Emergency Alert System (EAS), Warless Emergency Alerts (WEA), NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards, and other public alerting system from a single interface.  You do not need to sign-up.
