Dr. Sara Trechter specializes in cross-linguistic gender indicators and performatives. She has worked on language documentation, maintenance and revitalization with first-nations people in North and South Dakota, publishing on Lakhota and Nu’eta (Mandan). She has also edited a volume on the linguistic construction of whiteness including her papers: “White noise: bringing language into whiteness studies” and “White between the lines: ethnic positioning in Lakhota discourse.”
