Minor in Creative Writing

The Creative Writing minor offers students the opportunity to advance their writing skills in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. Students will engage with fellow creative writers in workshop classes, where they will enhance their abilities to draft, revise, and critique with the help of classmates and Chico State instructors. Regardless of what our students’ major academic interests are, the Creating Writing Minor will enhance students’ ability to communicate more effectively and creatively and will help to foster a lifelong passion for writing.

Writer's Voice

Erin Kelly, Sasha Pimental, Sarah Pape, and Jeanne Clark

Writer’s Voice is California State University, Chico’s literary arts reading series. The purpose of the Writer's Voice is to introduce contemporary writers to Chico State students and the general public. The featured writers introduce, perform, and discuss their esteemed works in a lively demonstration of literary achievement. Attendees are traditionally allowed to interact with the authors during and after the live reading and Q&A session. Writer's Voice events are entirely free and open to everyone. They are funded by alumni and friends with contributions from the College of Humanities and Fine Arts and the English Department.
