A linguistics minor prepares students to analyze the form and function of languages and to think critically about languages and linguistic issues. Minoring in linguistics means that you will learn about many aspects of human language, including sounds (phonetics, phonology), words (morphology), sentences (syntax), and meaning (semantics). You will also look at how languages change over time, how language varies from situation to situation and group to group, and how people learn and process language.
