Recognition of faculty for excellence in course (re)design is based on the evaluation of a course against a rubric or instrument. Since 2014 Chico has used the CSU developed Quality Learning and Teaching (QLT) instrument that will recognize quality course design or redesign in both fully online and hybrid courses. QLT replaced Chico's previous self-developed instrument, the Rubric for Online Instruction, in 2014. We are using the QLT instrument for evaluating Chico's courses at the local level. The program in place for faculty to be recognized has existed since 2003 and is called Exemplary Online Instruction. At each year's CELT Conference we recognize our local faculty with the EOI award. The CSU is recognizing excellent courses at the state level.

The Deadline for applications is late September (more information will be forthcoming).
Rubric for Online Instruction (ROI) - Chico has used the Rubric for Online Instruction from 2003 to 2014.
Other universities and colleges still use it, and may continue to use it as well.
However, now we use the QLT instrument for our EOI recognition program.
