Welcome, my name is Cara. I’m originally from Seattle, WA, but I relocated to Chico, CA, to begin my educational journey at Butte College. After transferring to Chico State, I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with a minor in Criminal Justice. Shortly after, I continued my education at Chico State, completing a Master’s in Social Work. My thesis, titled "The Struggle Is Real: The Imposter Syndrome and University Experience of Black Female Students at Chico State," reflects my commitment to advocating for women of color in higher education.

During my time as a student, I had the privilege of interning with CSU, Chico’s Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion; TRIO-Student Support Services; and the Safe Place and Wellness program at Butte College. Supporting students in their academic journeys has always been deeply fulfilling for me, and I’m passionate about creating positive change through research. My career aspirations include completing my doctoral degree in Educational Leadership at Sacramento State and securing a leadership position in higher education where I can provide holistic academic, cultural, and professional support for underrepresented students and those in crisis.
