Staff Assembly representative (now called Staff Council) 1975–77; served as Secretary; Chair of the Constitution and Elections Committee; appointed by Chairperson to represent staff on Speech and Advocacy Advisory Board.

Member of International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) since 1964; served as President, Vice President, Corresponding and Recording Secretary, and Newsletter Editor for Chico Chapter; served on several California Division committees and coordinator of California Division annual meeting/seminar in Berkeley – 1974.

Passed the Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) 12–hour exam sponsored by the Institute of Certifying Secretaries in 1969 (first secretary north of Sacramento to pass the CPS exam).

“California Secretary of the Year” and “Southwest District Secretary of the Year” (represented 13 states) in 1977; one of five finalists in the “International Secretary of the Year” competition held in Detroit.

Chico Chamber of Commerce Ambassador since 1985; selected as
“2000 Ambassador of the Year.”

Chico Noon Exchange Club member since 1995; served on Board of Directors and on numerous committees; honored as 2003–2004 “Exchangite of the Year.”

Volunteer for numerous community programs and service organizations:  United Way, March of Dimes, Butte–Glenn–Tehama Branch of Multiple Sclerosis Association, Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon, Butte College Business Education Advisory Board, ROP Advisory Boards at Pleasant Valley and Durham High Schools, Community Challenge; participated in several Career Day programs and panel discussions at high schools and colleges.
