Public Affairs/Public Information
1976–1996

Bob Pentzer served the University with distinction for 20 years as Public Affairs/Public Information Officer and represented the campus well as a spokesperson. He was in charge of media relations, press releases, sports information, publication for 70,000 alumni, campus bulletin, arranged press conferences, supervised interns, and oversaw the development of stories for the 96-page University Edition of the Chico Enterprise-Record. His campus memberships include: Associated Students Communications Board; University Public Exercises Committee; Student Affirmative Action Core Committee; and Commencement Committee. His accomplishments and loyal dedication to the University made it a better place.

Pentzer’s past and present community service contributions are numerous: advisory boards for the YMCA; American Cancer Society (Chico Chapter President); Salvation Army; Chico State Emeritus and Retired Faculty and Staff Association (ERFSA); Chico Chamber of Commerce Publications Committee and Ambassadors (1970s); Public Affairs Committee for Chico Community Hospital (1980s); and Publicity for the Chico Museum.

One huge contribution is being a reading tutor at Parkview School since 1997. Pentzer was Publicity Chair for the Chico High centennial celebration (2002) and chair of the Marketing and Communications Committee for the University’s 125th anniversary (2012). He joined the Lions Club in 1959—making many outstanding contributions at the local level and beyond. He has served in every capacity and received numerous awards and honors. He wears many hats and is excellent at juggling his many commitments.
