Summer Aid Application

Priority Deadline: April 26, 2019 to defer fees

Please note: It will take approximately 2 - 3 weeks for your application to be processed. After your application is processed, you will receive an email notification regarding your summer aid eligibility. 

Requirements prior to submission of summer aid application:

You must:

  • Register for classes prior to submitting this application. Financial aid students must pay the difference between their registration fees and anticipated aid.  Students who do not meet the priority deadline must pay full fees within 48 hours.  There will be no fee deferment after April 26, 2019 for Financial Aid applicants.

  • Have a 18/19 FAFSA on file. Your financial aid file must be complete, with all corrections and required documents reviewed by May 10, 2019.

Eligibility for summer aid:

  1. Undergraduates and Credential students may be eligible for summer Pell Grant. The amount of Pell for which you may be eligible is dependent on remaining eligibility and units of enrollment.

  2. Postbaccalaureate and graduate students: You must have made satisfactory academic progress, and be within the federal aid maximum units.

    • Maximums: (180 attempted units undergraduates, 60 units attempted for postbaccalaureate students

  3. If you are in a conditionally classified postbaccalaureate program and have already received aid as a conditionally classified student prior to Fall 2018, you will not be eligible for further financial aid until admitted into a Credential, Master’s, or second Bachelor’s degree program.

  4. Failure to attend classes after receiving aid will require repayment. 

  5. Course enrollment changes, including school cancellation of course(s), will result in adjustment of aid and repayment by you, if applicable.

  6. If you received a fee waiver or an outside agency paid your fees during the 18/19 academic year, you must contact Financial Services at (530) 898-5936 to confirm continued receipt of benefits for summer. 

  7. If you would like to request loans after your initial summer aid application has been submitted, you will need to edit and submit changes on your summer aid application.

  8. There is no financial aid available for consortium agreements during the summer session.

Processing time and notification of eligibility:

  1. Applications will be reviewed in the order received. It will take approximately 2 - 3 weeks for your application to be processed. 

  2. Notification of summer financial aid will be by email. Check your Wildcat email. If you are denied, you must pay summer fees right away to avoid being dropped. 

  3. Disbursement dates are June 6, July 5, and August 1. Please note: in some cases, the disbursement will occur after the start of your first class. If you are on academic probation or on a satisfactory academic progress contract, your aid will not be disbursed before August 1.

  4. If you have not already signed up for Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) to have your aid delivered directly to your checking account, we recommend you do. EFT sign-up is available through your Student Center.

Change in Enrollment for Summer Session:

Self-service registration for summer closes at midnight on May 16, 2019. Starting May 17, all Add/Drops/Swaps require additional forms.

  • Adds/Drops/Swaps May 17 - June 2 require:
    • RCE's Summer Session 2019 Add/Drop form
  • Adds/Drops/Swaps June 3 or later require:
    • RCE's Summer Session 2019 Add/Drop form
    • Summer Change of Enrollment form (PDF)
    • An appointment with a Financial Aid advisor. Appointments may be in-person or by phone. Bring completed forms for an in-person appointment. For phone appointments, you must fax (530-898-6883) or email (finaid@csuchico.edu) your completed forms prior to making your appointment.
