Loan Forgiveness Programs
If you have student loans, you may be eligible for federal or other loan forgiveness and repayment programs based on your employment or service.
Federal Loan Forgiveness for Teachers
Teacher Loan Forgiveness may be available to qualifying teachers who meet federal service requirements. Visit StudentAid.gov(opens in new window) for current eligibility requirements and forgiveness amounts.
Federal Loan Forgiveness for Public Service Employees
Borrowers with eligible Direct Loans may qualify for forgiveness of their remaining loan balance after making 120 qualifying monthly payments while working full time for a qualifying public service employer. Perkins Loan Forgiveness
Federal Perkins Loans are no longer issued; however, borrowers with existing Perkins Loans may qualify for cancellation or forgiveness for employment or service in certain fields. Review your Perkins Master Promissory Note or contact Chico State Student Financial Services.
AmeriCorps
AmeriCorps members who successfully complete a term of service may be eligible to receive an education award that can be used to repay qualified student loans or pay for future educational expenses. Learn more at the AmeriCorps website.
