Additional Appointment Information - Professional and Continuing Education (Self-Support Instructors)

Conditional Appointments and Course Cancellations

Special Session employment is a conditional appointment for a specific period of time and is contingent upon enrollments and budgetary considerations. A class may be cancelled by the President at any time due to low enrollment or budgetary reasons.  If a class is going to be cancelled, it will be cancelled in advance of the first class meeting.

Pay Information

You will be paid the amount per Pay Schedule 2322 (PDF). Your pay request will be submitted to Payroll within seven (7) days after the session has ended and grades have been submitted. When all documentation is received in the Payroll Office, your pay will be issued by the State Controller’s Office within ten (10) business days.

Instructional Assignments and Workload

Instructional assignments are determined by the appropriate administrator (normally delegated to department chairs), after consultation with the faculty member and in conjunction with department and student needs and the background of the individual. Teaching and other faculty assignments at Chico State are dependent upon departmental and student needs, which may change over time. A description of faculty responsibilities is found in Article 20 of the CBA.
