Portrait of Tiffani AndersonI am a lecturer in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and the Chair of Lecturer Council, and it is my honor to be serving as the inaugural Lecturer Mentor for the Office of Faculty Development. This position is a great opportunity for outreach to our lecturer faculty and is one step towards enabling lecturers to realize that our voices can make a difference in our experiences on campus. I look forward to meeting lecturers throughout the semester to help you navigate the many resources available to you!

Meet Your Lecturer Council

The mission of the Lecturer Council is to represent and advocate for the many lecturers who contribute so significantly to teaching excellence and student success at Chico State.

We seek to create reliable channels of communication to ensure consistent access to positive support and opportunities that enhance professional success for lecturers within departments, colleges, and the university.

Moreover, we endeavor to serve in a supportive role to the Academic Senate while fostering a sense of connection and community.

Beth Shook

Beth Shook has been a lecturer in the anthropology department since 2004. Beth enjoys teaching a variety of anthropology courses and mentoring graduate students in teaching. Additionally, she leads Chico State’s Affordable Learning Solutions (CAL$) program. While she is broadly trained in anthropology, her research has focused on utilizing DNA in forensic and anthropological contexts. She earned her Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of California, Davis. When not working, Beth enjoys doing outdoor activities with her family including camping, hiking, and kayaking.

Fariba Aminalroayae

Fariba Aminalroayae, M.B.A., has a background in management administration, supply chain management, and business analytics. Born in Iran-Isfahan, she completed her undergraduate studies at Tehran University, earned a Postgraduate degree in Management Administration from Chico State, and an M.B.A. from the University of Reno, Nevada. Fariba worked at Asia Insurance Company and is now the Vice Operation Manager at Chico Top Imports, overseeing and optimizing operational processes. Fariba began teaching at Chico State in the fall of 2016.

Aaron Draper

Aaron Draper has worked as a professional commercial photographer for the past 20 years. He earned an MFA from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. In addition, he recently graduated from law school. He teaches photography and content creation in the Media Arts Design and Technology Department in the College of Communication and Education. He has a dog “Tiki” and a cat “Wednesday.”

Tristen Svendsen

Tristen joined the College of ECC as a lecturer faculty member by returning to teach at his undergrad department of EECE, where he had earned his Baccalaureate in Electronics Engineering. Starting his second year, he joined the MMEM department and occasionally lectures for EECE. In industry, he primarily worked with embedded systems and sensor systems, which has led him to greatly enjoy capstone advising and consulting with student clubs on their projects. He currently serves as the Faculty Advisor for the newly formed Flight Club. Tristen and his wife are both Chico State alumni and have enjoyed living in Chico since transferring here to finish their undergrad.

Nancy Meyer

Nancy is an artist/educator and has been teaching at CSU Chico since 1998. She teaches in the Art & Art History Department within the Humanities & Fine Arts College. The art courses that she teaches are in the studio and Art Education areas. Her artwork is primarily 2D multi-media and currently her emphasis is on large-scale painting. Nancy's work has been shown in many local and national exhibitions. Her education consists of a BFA from The Art Institute of Chicago, a Single-Subject Teaching Credential from CSU Chico, MA in Art Education from Boston University and a MFA from the Art Institute of Boston.

Tiffani Anderson

Tiffani joined the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry as a lecturer faculty member, teaching a wide variety of chemistry classes. Over the past few years, she has served as the Chair of the Lecturers' Council as well as the lecturer representative for the FEDV Advisory Board. She is committed to advocating for lecturer causes and working with lecturers to reach their full potential in their careers. She is a Chico State Alumni, earning her B.S. in Chemistry, and graduated with her M.S. in Chemistry from Purdue University.
