Main Switchgear / Electrical Systems Underground Infrastructure

Summary:   Installation of underground raceways and electrical vaults for connection to future new main switchgear building

Schedule:    Work started on 5/28/19 with completion by 10/1/19.

Impacts:      5/28/19 to 8/21/19 - Partial closure of 1st Street & Orange Parking Lot, see site map (PDF)

Nearest ADA accessible parking located in Parking Structure 1.  Please contact Accessibility Resource Center if additional accommodations are required.

35 Main Street Paint and Carpet

Summary:   Complete carpeting and paint for NSPR offices and Ecological Reserve office.

Schedule:    Work started on 5/28/19 with completion by 6/6/19.

Impacts:      NSPR and Ecological Reserve staff will box their office equipment and work in shared spaces.

New Science Replacement Building

Summary:   The new science project is currently in the stages of completing the structural steel and deck placement.  Summer work will consist of deck pours, exterior framing, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical rough in.    

Schedule:    Work will continue through the summer within the current construction footprint.

Impacts:      Construction material and equipment traffic on Warner street.

Arts 114 HVAC Install

Summary:   Installation of a roof top HVAC unit.

Schedule:    Start of work is planned for 6/3/19 with completion by7/12/19.

Impacts:      Access and path of travel constraints in and around Arts 114 during construction.

BMU 209 Conference Room Digital Display

Summary:   Work includes opening one wall to install electrical and backing for display mounting.  A large digital display will be installed.  Two floor-mounted outlets will be removed. 

Schedule:    Start of work has not yet been scheduled. The work will take 3-4 weeks to complete.

Impacts:      Unavoidable construction noise.  Demo of floor outlets will be done above ceiling of room 111.

BMU 220H Data Outlets

Summary:   Additional data outlets will be installed for hard-wired connection to the network.

Schedule:    Start of work is planned to begin in mid to late June.  Work will take 1-2 weeks to complete.

Impacts:      Furniture will be temporarily relocated.  Contractor will be working overhead above ceiling.

BMU 312/314 Refresh

Summary:   BMU rooms 312 and 314 will have the dividing wall replaced by a moveable partition, a door will be installed to the adjacent exterior balcony space, and restroom upgrades will be made to the Men’s and Women’s 3rd floor restrooms.

Schedule:    Start of work is planned for late May with completion before the start of the fall semester.

Impacts:      Rooms 312, 314, and adjacent balcony will be closed for the duration of the project.  Third floor restrooms will be closed intermittently. Unavoidable construction noise and dust.

College Park Demolition of Eight Houses

Summary:   Demolition of the houses at 621, 622, 627, 628 and 633 Brice Avenue, 612 Stadium Way, 847 and 855 Warner Street.

Schedule:    Start of work is planned for 6/3/19 with completion by 6/28/19.

Impacts:      Construction equipment on Brice Avenue, La Vista Way, Stadium Way and Warner Street. Minor traffic impacts.

College Park Temporary Parking Lots

Summary:   Temporary gravel-surfaced parking lots will be created on the lots vacated by demolished houses on Warner Street between College Drive and La Vista Way.  The lots will have lighting and an emergency phone.

Schedule:    Start of work is planned to begin in early July with completion before the start of the fall semester.

Impacts:      Unavoidable construction noise and dust.

Glenn Hall Paint Exterior

Summary:   Painting the exterior of Glenn Hall and installing new signage building ID lettering.

Schedule:    Work started on 5/20/19 with completion by 8/1/19.

Impacts:      Re-route occupants by closing off doors one at a time as crews move around the building.

Kendall Hall Roof Repair

Summary:   Replace waterproofing under tile, repurpose existing tile, upsize gutters.

Schedule:    Work started on 5/20/19 with completion by 8/16/19.

Impacts:      Access and path of travel constraints in and around Kendall Hall from May 20th through August 16th, 2019.

Kendall Hall Signage Installation

Summary:   KNDL will have new department signs installed.

Impacts:      Interior impacts will be minimal.

Langdon Hall Paint Exterior

Summary:   Paint all exterior non-brick surfaces.

Schedule:    Start of work is planned to begin in early July with completion before the start of the fall semester.

Impacts:      Pedestrian traffic on all sides of Langdon Hall will be marked off and re-routed to the opposite side of the street.

O’Connell Tech Center Room 127 Smart Classroom Upgrade

Summary:   Paint, replace ceiling tile, lights, furniture and audio/visual equipment.

Impacts:      Room 127 will be unavailable for use during the project.

Physical Science Building Renovation RFQ and RFP

Summary:   Draft and advertise the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) and Request for Proposals (RFP) to design and construct the partial demolition, HAZMAT abatement and renovation of the Physical Science Building.

Schedule:    Design - September 2019 to May 2020.  Construction - June 2020 to June 2021.

Impacts:     No impact until June 2020

Plumas Hall 112 Omron Robotics Laboratory

Summary:   Paint, replace lights, remove interior wall, new HVAC system, furniture, and audio/visual equipment.

Schedule:    Start of work is planned for 7/8/19 with completion by 11/15/19.

Impacts:     Minor access and path of travel constraints in and around room 112 during construction.

Sapp Hall and Sierra Hall - Wireless Fire Alarms

Summary:   Wireless fire alarm systems are planned to be installed building-wide in order to provide full protection for occupants and property.

Schedule:    Start of work is planned to begin In July with completion before the start of the fall semester.

Impacts:      Minimal disruptions while devices are being installed in each room.

SSC Signage Installation

Summary:   SSC will have exterior building lettering installed, and new interior wayfinding signage on all floors.

Schedule:    Work is planned for summer 2019

Impacts:      Main entrance on 2nd Street will be temporarily closed during use of mechanical lift.  Interior impacts will be minimal.

Whitney Basement Repairs

Summary:   Abatement and repair of building materials including drywall and equipment due to water damage.

Schedule:    Work has started and will continue with a scheduled completion of June 16, 2019.

Impacts:      Whitney basement, 1st floor lounge, and 1st floor computer room will be closed from May 20th through June 16th, 2019.

Whitney Electrical Equipment Replacement

Summary:   This summer we will be in design to replace the electrical systems that were damaged because of flooding during the April storm.

Schedule:    Design is in progress and planning for winter construction.

Impacts:      No building impacts during design.

 WREC Lettering

Summary:   Installation of two electric building ID signs on the exterior walls of the WREC.

Schedule:    Work started on 5/24/19 with completion by 8/1/19.

Impacts:      WREC 2nd floor may have some areas temporarily closed off for users’ safety.

WREC Locker Rooms Improve Entryways

Summary:   Improve the alcoves and door openings at the main locker rooms by removing the door frames and installing durable wall surface materials.  This will greatly reduce ongoing repair work, improve aesthetics, and widen the openings by a few inches.

Schedule:    Start of work has not yet been scheduled.  The work will take about 2 weeks to complete.

Impacts:      Locker rooms may need to be closed temporarily for the users’ safety.

WREC Floor Replacement

Summary:     Replace 22,000 sf of court flooring due to water damage.

Schedule:    Start of work is planned for May 28th with completion before the start of the fall semester.

Impacts:      WREC courts will be closed from May 28th through the start of the fall semester.
