Campus Facility Use
About Us
The Campus Facility Use (CFU) committee serves as a central advisory body at Chico State, established by the President to guide and recommend policies and procedures for the long-term and short-term allocation and utilization of University space and facilities. CFU's work supports the academic mission, strategic priorities, and operational needs of the University by ensuring facilities and space are used effectively, efficiently, and in alignment with the University's Master Plan and strategic plan.
Under EM 25-005, the CFU committee counsels University leadership on space allocation policy, develops guidelines for short-term facility use, and reviews requests that impact campus space. The committee conducts its business with representation from key campus constituencies and subject matter experts to balance institutional goals with stakeholder needs.
Request for Space, Art, and Signage
The Campus Facility Use (CFU) committee reviews all requests involving campus space allocation, public art, and signage in accordance with EM 25-005.
All requests are evaluated by the CFU committee to ensure alignment with campus priorities, operational needs, and long-range planning.
- Short-Term Requests The committee may review and act independently on temporary or short-term space, art, or signage requests in alignment with established campus policies and operational considerations.
- Long-Term or Permanent Requests Requests involving long-term space allocation, permanent installations, reassignment, or significant impact to campus facilities are reviewed by CFU and forwarded to the President's Cabinet for final consideration and approval.
How to Submit a Request
All requests must be initiated by submitting a Long-Term Space Request form (PDF) to the committee Chair. Submissions will be added to the next scheduled CFU meeting agenda, and the submitter will be invited to attend that meeting to initiate consideration. All requests must have the support of the host Division, as well as identified funding source to support the request. Requests for long-term space, art, or signage will be further reviewed by Cabinet after recommendation from CFU.
Divisional Space Allocation Specialists
Each division at the University has a designated Space Allocation Specialist who should be consulted when an individual or program in that division wants to request additional or abandon existing assigned space on campus. Ultimately, any space request changes need to be supported by the division before they can be vetted and facilitated through the Campus Facility Use committee.
