Fraternity and Sorority Affairs

Recruitment for Current Students

We are so glad you are interested in Greek life. Getting involved is the 'Wildcat Way', and joining a fraternity or sorority is a perfect way to enhance your Chico State experience! Students who have earned a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher are eligible to join a fraternity or sorority.

Ways to Join a Sorority

Formal Recruitment

Panhellenic sororities hold formal recruitment the week prior to the start of the Spring semester. Formal Recruitment is a five-day process in which you explore all chapters, with the exception of our associate chapter, Sigma Alpha.

Informal Recruitment

During the Fall semester, sororities can choose to open to allow for new members to join. This process is not organized by the university, and is more casual than Formal Recruitment. If you would like to learn more about informal recruitment, please email Victorina Jeffers at vjeffers@csuchico.edu.

Associate Chapter Recruitment

Sigma Alpha is a professional agricultural sorority that is a member of the Panhellenic Council, but hosts their own recruitment process in both fall and spring semesters. If you are interested in joining Sigma Alpha, please email sigmaalphapresident.chicostate@gmail.com.

Ways to Join a Fraternity

Fraternities belonging to the Interfraternity Council recruit both fall and spring semesters. You are eligible to join a fraternity after completing at least one semester of college courses in which you earn 12 or more units and achieve a 2.5 GPA or higher.

Ways to Join a Multicultural Fraternity or Sorority

Organizations belonging to the Multicultural Greek Council recruit both fall and spring semesters. You are eligible to join a multicultural fraternity or sorority after completing at least one semester in which you earn 12 or more units and achieve a 2.5 GPA or higher.
