FSA Events

The office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs is excited for the Chico State community to learn and discover more about what our office does! The following workshops and events are a sneak peak of all the great things that FSA offers our students, prospective members and the community!

Fall Events: 

Greek Welcome

Greek Welcome takes place on the first Thursday of each semester. The aim of Greek Welcome is to welcome all new and continuing students to campus by getting to learn about Greek-life. Come out and check out how to get involved and connected with FSA! 

Gauntlet Goes Greek 

Gauntlet Goes Greek takes place on the third Wednesday of the Fall semester. As a kick-off event for ALL recognized social fraternities and sororities on campus launching and promoting rush/recruitment. If you are interested to Go Greek, you do not want to miss out on this event!

National Hazing Prevention Week 

This week-long program is scheduled during the national hazing prevention week event. Chico State is aware of the repertoire that it has had and as a way to raise awareness and be intentional in developing our students as the “Leaders of Tomorrow” FSA hosts its annual NHPW events that provide support to all students in the Chico State community with support and resources to combat hazing.  

Greek Week  

This week-long program is geared towards engaging all of our Greek membership in a multitude of philanthropic events to reinstall the importance of philanthropy within our Greek culture. This program seeks to show our members that you can have fun and give back at the same time. 

Unity Mixer 

The Unity Mixer is scheduled during the Fall semester around the Thanksgiving Holiday. This event is opened to students, staff, and faculty who were or are affiliated in greek-life. We want to help our students get connected with faculty and staff for networking opportunities and professional and personal development. 

Chico-ween 

This weekend event is hosted by FSA and Wellcat Prevention to ensure the safety of our community. Halloween can be a fun and exciting experience for our incoming and continuing students, but it can also put our students at high-risk and as a proactive response, greek-life students volunteer time and energy to provide their peers with snacks and water to promote safety. 

 

Spring Events: 

Spring into Greek Life

Chavez Weekend 

This weekend event is hosted by FSA and Wellcat Prevention to ensure the safety of our community. Cesar Chavez Weekend can be a fun and exciting experience for our students, but it can also put our students at high-risk and as a proactive response, greek-life students volunteer time and energy to provide their peers with snacks and water to promote safety. 

SLL Awards Banquet 

The Student Life and Leadership (SLL) Awards Banquet occurs at the end of the Spring semester to highlight and recognize all of the hard work that our student leaders have done in their respective organizations. SLL as a department provides our students with a wide variety of awards.  

 

Workshops and Trainings 

Monthly President’s Meetings 

These monthly meetings are scheduled throughout the Academic Year. The event is geared towards all Presidents of every organization and council, during these meetings Presidents will receive FSA updates regarding upcoming events, trainings, and other involvement opportunities. Campus partners will also be presenting resources and services that are available for our students to further support their college careers.  

Title IX Training:

This training is in collaboration with the Title IX Office and the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities (OSRR). During this training ALL current active members of all recognized social fraternities and sororities are required to attend the training to raise awareness on issues affecting our greek community at Chico State. Our student leaders will also have the opportunity to ask questions and receive resources on support services that are readily available to them as Chico State students.

New Member Training:

This training is aimed to welome our new members into greek-life at Chico State. It is mandatory for all New Members to attend as FSA provides students with useful information regarding their new found home. FSA also does a formal presentation of who we are and what we do to further support them during their greek-life journeys. 

 

Recruitment Events: 

Go Greek 101

Go Greek 101 workshop is a required and mandatory training for all Potential New Members (PNMs) who are interested in rushing or going through recruitment. This training will cover services and resources that FSA offers. During this training, they will also be able to learn about all recognized social fraternities and sororities by highlighting their events and organizations.  

IFC Rush Week

The InerFraternity Council (IFC) Rush week is scheduled during the 4th week of each semester. IFC hosts week-long events where PNMs are able to learn and meet the different recognized social fraternities. We encourage any interested student to attend Rush Week to learn more about each organization and get the face-to-face interaction with the brothers of the fraternities.  

CPC: Continuous Open Bidding

The College Panhellenic Council (CPC) Fall Recruitment is known as Continuous Open Bidding (COB). For further information about the rules and process of going through COB, we encourage any PNMs to get connected with our current recognized social sororities. Each sorority has a process and can provide chapter specific information. 

CPC: Formal Recruitment

The College Panhellenic Council (CPC) Spring Recruitment is the highlight of many PNMs who want to go Greek! Formal recruitment is structured with meet and greets and other fun events! For further information, connect with CPC during any of the FSA sponsored recruitment events.  

MGC Recruitment

The Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) recruitment is a 2 week-long process. Each organization will be scheduled to table for 2 weeks. We encourage any interests to attend their tabling events to learn more about each individual organization in order to find their home away from home.  

MGC Showout

The Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) showout is scheduled during the 1st week of MGC recruitment. During this event PNMs will be able to learn about all of the recognized multicultural social fraternities and sororities. Each organization also provides some sort of unique entertainment that represents their respective organization.
