Billy McDermott joined Chico State in 2022 as the Director of Regional Philanthropy for the Northeast, bringing over two decades of development and fundraising leadership. As the Regional Director of Philanthropy, Billy is committed to fostering relationships with alumni and friends in the Northeast through opportunities to get involved with the Chico State community.
Billy is passionate about supporting the people and programs that make the Chico experience exceptional for students, alumni, and donors alike. Known for his dynamic approach, Billy’s passion for relationship building and mentorship is reflected in his commitment to cultivating personal connections with students and alumni. His dedication to supporting students goes beyond fundraising, mentoring hundreds of students through their educational careers and beyond.
Billy’s professional journey includes 17 years at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), where he served in various capacities, including most recently as the Executive Director of Development for two prominent schools - The School of Management and the College of Science and Liberal Arts. Billy holds a B.S. in Business from St. John’s University.
