Hope Shapiro

Director of Development—Engineering

Hope Shapiro is a philanthropy professional with more than 15 years of experience in higher education fundraising, economic development, strategic planning, and community engagement. Her role focuses on creating and sustaining relationships with alumni, friends, and industry partners of the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Construction Management. She works closely with the academic leadership to increase awareness and support for our outstanding students and programs by developing connections that will continue to advance the college.
She participates in the development of high-level strategies to match our supporters’ priorities with the college’s development goals and mission. She is actively involved in several college- and department-level industry advisory boards and communicates regularly with alumni and corporate partners on the benefits and importance of their support.
Hope resides in Chico with her husband and two daughters. She is currently pursuing a master’s in public administration at Chico State.

What motivates you to do this work/What’s your favorite part of your job?

The people. There is something very special about people connected to Chico State. Alumni, students, employees, faculty, industry partners, community memberseveryone has a Chico experience. I love to learn about each of them and figure out meaningful ways to engage them with the College and University.

Why do you give to Chico State?

I give to the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Construction Management because I work with the students, faculty, and staff in this college on a daily basis. I not only understand the need but the significant impact my annual giving has on each of their experiences. It feels really good to know I’m making a difference in peoples’ lives.
